ANNUAL DINNER MEETING
HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION OF TOBYHANNA TOWNSHIP

October 10, 2012
Pocono Manor Inn, Pocono Manor, Pa.

Speaker: Rick Koval, “Hidden Treasures of the Pocono Plateau”

Following a delicious buffet dinner, President Freddie Kaltenthaler called a brief meeting at 7:15 p.m. She dispensed with readings of previous minutes, treasurer’s report and committee reports.

Following the association’s constitution that calls for nominations for officers to be voted during the November meeting, Freddie called for the report of the ad hoc nominating committee. Committee members are Jack Dodge, Ron Kehler and Frank McDevitt.

Ron Kehler announced the slate of officers for the positions as follows:
  • President: Rick Bodenshatz
  • Vice President: Scarlett Rehrig
  • Treasurer – Fred Tim
  • Secretary – Jean Dyer
  • Board of Directors – Frank McDevitt, Glenn Ryerson, Fred Lehrer
Nominations from the floor were called for, without response. Jim Bond moved that the nominations be closed, and the motion was carried.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, November 14 at Clymer Library. The topic is the history of the Tobyhanna Army Depot.

With no further business, Freddie introduced the guest speaker for the evening, naturalist and Pocono Record columnist Rick Koval, who spoke on “Hidden Treasures of the Pocono Plateau.”

A beautiful series of PowerPoint slides accompanied his informative description of rare wild flowers and ‘critters’ native to our area. Rick emphasized the need for preservation of our natural areas and continuing support of environmental efforts.

Respectfully submitted by
Virginia Foy, Secretary
