Laura Altemose, Lake Naomi Club
PROGRAM/SPEAKER: Fred Lehrer introduced Laura Altemose, Communications & Marketing Manager for Lake Naomi Club. Laura then presented in detail, “Lake Naomi Club’s First Half Century.”

Laura described the acquisition of the properties and lake by Mr. Logan Steele from the Miller family in 1962 and 1963. She described the planned development of the community, and how it evolved on a professional basis through the years.

Laura described the evolution of Lake Naomi Club, the building of over 2,000 homes in a residential, recreational community and the amenities that have grown with the population. Its 277-acre recreational lake, three swimming pools, golf course, tennis center, club restaurant and large community center have earned recognition as one of the most comprehensive recreational communities in the northeastern U.S.

After Laura’s presentation and fielding of questions, HATT members Allen Rodriguez, Don Jones and Vilma Zabeleta offered a number of interesting remembrances of families and activities within the community over the years.

Fred Lehrer presented a framed certificate of appreciation to Laura at the conclusion of the program.

May meeting minutes are on the web site, a motion was heard from the floor to accept, and accepted by all.

The Executive Committee examined all suggestions for the use of $990 contributed to the Ted Suttmeier Memorial Fund, and decided to purchase 44 folding chairs for the meeting room. Because of Ted’s support for both HATT and the Clymer Library, and the need for more seating, both will put this purchase to good use. A remembrance plaque stating this will be placed on the wall of the meeting room.

Tobyhanna Township Community Day in the Park is July 13, 2 to 7 p.m. Two more volunteers are needed to staff the table from which we exhibit.

The October Annual Dinner will be held at the Lake Naomi Club, as recommended by that committee and approved by the Executive Committee. Details will be announced later.

After an invitation to share in refreshments, Fred Tim accepted a motion for adjournment, which was approved by all.

Respectfully submitted,
Rick Bodenschatz, President
